FAQs

  • Fun! A session lasts 55 minutes and upon arrival we ask that you leave your belongings and shoes at the edge of the space and then join Craftea Koala on the mat for an introduction. In the space there will be up to ten exploration or creation stations for you to freely move between before coming back to the mat for singing, instruments and every child’s favourite….the bubble machine. Creation and exploration stations may include rice, spaghetti, play dough, foam, gloop, paint and more so we strongly suggest you do not wear your most prized outfits and if you prefer to then bring an apron or messy t-shirt for your child.

  • We are conscious of our environmental impact therefore we will have a container of reusable wipes readily available for use and a dirty container for you to deposit them in ready to be washed. If you prefer disposable wipes, then we ask you to bring a pack with you.

At present we do not have aprons and suggest you bring a messy t-shirt or similar if you feel the need to.

  • Mini Koalas is a child led session and you would be expected to stay with your child throughout. In terms of input, we will support you to develop a connection with your child whilst they have fun and learn through play, creativity and sensory activities.

  • You may have already heard of STEM, but add in an A for art and you get STEAM. STEAM is for everyone and it is all around us which is why it is so important for children to be a part of, to use and to understand. From the buildings you walk past, bridges that connect places, gadgets we use, and the air we breathe, STEAM makes it all possible. It stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and maths and it is brilliant for encouraging children to be curious, to wonder, be innovators and learn through hands-on play. Children are drawn to STEAM activities as they are naturally curious and Craftea Koala provides a safe environment for children to explore using their senses. As an adult we automatically think of computers or tablets when we hear ‘technology’ but in reference to STEAM we mean tools, a tool after all is something that a person engineered or designed to make a job easier. Engineering is a way for children to design, create and build things that work, it introduces problem solving and creative thinking. Art helps remove the idea of inhibition as there are no wrong answers in art, artwork should be unique to the person creating it, and our emphasis is definitely the creation and process rather than the final object.

  • We try to be as inclusive as we are able to therefore if your child has an allergy that may be affected by sensory play please do contact us to have a chat and we will do our best to accommodate. Sensory play may include rice, spaghetti, lentils, chickpeas, gloop and dough.

  • We understand that little tummies can get very hungry, and big adult tummies too. You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks but we respectfully ask that they are consumed at the edge of the space away from the exploration area and that hands are washed/wiped following a snack to prevent any potential allergy transfer issues. If you are a breastfeeding mummy, we are a safe environment so please do follow your little ones needs and feed as and when you need to.

  • We are unable to offer refunds for cancellations, unless in exceptional circumstances. Bookings may be transferred to a different session, subject to availability, up to 48 hours before the class or workshop. Please contact us to arrange this. Classes that have already passed cannot be transferred to future dates
